Why Do People Opt for Porcelain Crowns?

Our patients who have experienced the dramatic results of receiving porcelain crowns do so because they know they deserve a beautiful smile. If you have teeth that have fallen victim to advanced cavities or you have teeth that are cracked or chipped, porcelain crowns can provide a natural-looking solution that is easy to attain and comfortable to undergo. A crown is used to maintain the aesthetic appearance of your teeth by covering the entire visible surface of teeth, providing a dramatic “tooth makeover.” A porcelain crown also significantly reinforces and protects the damaged tooth it covers. Are You a Good Candidate for Porcelain Crowns?

Most patients are great candidates for porcelain crowns, and are able to overcome their hindrances and discover a new healthy and happier life with their new smiles. If you have a damaged tooth that is interfering with chewing and eating, or your teeth affect the appearance of your smile, you also may be a prime candidate for crowns.

Call us to schedule your free consultation and join countless other patients who found they were great candidates for dental crowns! The best candidates are patients with major tooth decay or damage, who still have sufficient tooth structure remaining to support a crown. Sufficient tooth structure is needed because some of that will need to be removed to accommodate a crown. If, during your consultation, we find that there isn’t sufficient remaining tooth structure, don’t worry! We have alternative powerful solutions to consider!

Porcelain Crowns: What Should I Expect?

Before receiving a porcelain crown, it’s necessary to have a consultation with our dentist to go over preparation and the procedure. During this time, your dentist will also take an impression of your existing tooth to create a crown that resembles that tooth. After removing any areas of decay, your dentist will take an impression of the tooth to be crowned. During this time, your dentist might also place a temporary crown to safeguard the tooth until the final crown is placed, especially in cases where an injury to the tooth has occurred.

Our in-house dental laboratory will create the porcelain dental crown. At your next visit, if a temporary crown had been placed it will be removed, and the permanent crown will be fitted and applied. Proper placement is crucial to ensure that it feels good and that it fits the tooth it covers as well as with neighboring teeth. Once you and your dentist are happy with the fit and the appearance, the crown will be cemented into position and any extra dental cement will be removed by the dentist.

Options with Crowns

There are many options with crowns available to suit our patients’ needs. In addition to porcelain, crowns can also be made of gold. While porcelain crowns are the ideal choice for visible teeth due to their extreme ability to look natural, gold crowns pose no risk of chipping. This makes gold crowns suitable when crowning back teeth. Be sure to discuss your options for porcelain crowns or gold crowns with your Plantation, FL dentist at Enchanting Dentistry!
